Officials of major Jewish organizations in New York and the Israeli consulate received boxes of Matzos for the Pesach holiday.
“It is nice to see how Jews respect the yomtov and are excited to receive Matzos,” said Rabbi Shmuel Butman, Director of Lubavitch Youth Organization, who does his rounds each year.
His first stop was to the Consulate General of Israel on 2nd Avenue in New York. “We all wait for these Shmura Matzos,” consul general Asaf Shariv said. All staffers received Matzos.
At the United Jewish Communities, president and CEO Howard Rieger said he is well familiar with Chabad’s work.
“Wherever I travel, I meet Chabad men and they do wonderful work,” he commented. “They are an integral part of the Jewish landscape. The whole world sees now their contribution to the Jewish people.”
Butman visited UJA – Federation of New York, where he was warmly greeted by Executive Vice President and CEO John Ruskay.
At a visit to the Israeli Bonds, President Yehoshua Matza accompanied Rabbi Butman in giving the hundreds of employees the Matza cartons.
