Hundreds of Jews from Hannover, Germany and the surrounding area participated in several events marking the fourth Yartzeit of Rabbi Binyomin Wolff, a”h on Rosh Chodesh Iyar.
The theme of the Yartzeit was “The Jewish Book.” All the events highlighted how the “Jewish Bookshelf” in the home is the source of Jewish meaningful living and the foundation of a Jewish future.
The very first “Jewish-German Book Fair” was set up in the courtyard of the “Benjamin Hause – Chabad Center of Hannover.” Publishers of Jewish books in multiple languages were represented and the crowds utilized the opportunity to browse and purchase thousands of books.
At the same time, cultural events about the books geared to different ages and demographics were held in the main hall of the Chabad Center.
An impressive representation of local and national dignitaries participated in the opening session, who all praised the tremendous work of Chabad in Hannover.
In the afternoon, many local Jews joined Rabbi Wolff’s family as well as other members of the Wolff and Greenberg families from around the world at the cemetery for a moving ceremony of reciting Tehillim at Rabbi Wolff’s kever.
The main event at the Chabad Center was followed by a chassidishe farbrengen with visiting Shluchim from Germany and family members.
