In the previous segment, Mrs. Tiechtel recalled how the girls would choose camps to work in during the summer. But, wouldn’t it be more fitting for these young students to go have fun on their own during the summer months? Why give them the responsibility of being leaders in their own right?
Mrs. Tiechtel recalls when she was a very young girl her cousins were asked to be leaders of Mesibos Shabbos groups. “They were fifteen years old and they used to walk to East Flatbush at the time and they used to lead groups. They were little girls themselves but they were told to lead these groups. We see this idea with boys going on mivtzoyim at a very young age and they advise older people about all their issues in their lives.”
In Morah Tiechtel’s words the Rebbe’s “great belief in the potential of a teenager to utilize all their abilities for the good of the world, for Am Yisroel, and for themselves” is very apparent by the fact that the Rebbe encouraged and believed in the youth to lead and give in ways that they could.
