N’shei Chabad of Ramat Beit Shemesh (Anglo division) held a beautiful fabrengen and full seuda on Sunday to commemorate 30 years since the Histalkus of the Rebbe.
Held at the home of Mrs. Deborah Wosner, the featured speaker was Mrs. Chaya Rivka Heber, a renowned educator and mecheneches who currently serves as Aym Bayit (dorm mother) at the dorm for daughters of Shluchim who study at B’nos Menachem in Lod.
Mrs. Heber (nee Langsam) enthralled the audience of 40 women and girls as she spoke movingly and eloquently on the topic “Growing Up with the Rebbe.” As they listened to Mrs. Heber’s recollections and experiences of coming of age in Crown Heights, the audience enjoyed a sumptuous seuda. Some of those present shared their own experiences of Crown Heights and others asked questions about living in the daled amos of the Rebbe pre-Gimmel Tammuz. Her accounts of the influence of the Rebbe on her own childhood and on that of her family were interspersed with vivid descriptions of momentous occasions with the Rebbe during the year.
The highlight of the evening was when Mrs. Heber announced she is donating a dime AND a dollar that she personally received from the Rebbe to benefit Anglo N’shei Chabad of Beit Shemesh. We were all overcome with emotion at this unique gift …. A grand announcement will be made in the coming months as we decide how this incredible gift will best help our community.
