Dr. Kristina Schroder, German Federal Minister of Family Affairs, Senior Citizens, Women and Youth, was honored with dedicating the newly opened Chabad Kindergarten in the capital city of Berlin.
She was warmly welcomed by Rabbi Yehuda Teichtel, Head Shliach of Berlin, and the Kindergarten’s faculty, as she watched a presentation by the children and expressed her positive impression saying, “This institution is a sign of the growing Jewish life in Germany.”
The Kindergarten’s Director, Mrs. Annette Lentz walked the Minister, her delegation and the national media through the school.
The president of the Jewish community of Berlin, Dr. Gideon Joffe thanked Chabad for opening this new nursery, thus supporting “the growth and development of Jewish life in Berlin.”
The new nursery offers an education to Jewish children born in Germany and of Russian speaking background. It offers daily learning combined with a professional education, helping to ensure a strong foundation for the children and is one of the reasons for the quick expansion.
Established in 2004 with the support of the Ohr Avner Foundation, it first had 3 children enrolled and now 150 children learn in the kindergarten and school.
“We expanded so rapidly that a second kindergarten will be opened after the summer in Berlin,” Rabbi Teichtel said.
Nice vibe! Fantastic. Hatzlacha – an to all the Rebbe’s shluchim doing “the job”!
Wow! Once again a victory over nazism! What can be a greater joy than teaching jewish children specifically in a place that sought to destroy jewish children! Rabbi and mrs Tiechtel, as the rebbes shluchim, are changing the face of the Jewish community in Berlin! Mazal Tov!
