I’m flabbergasted!
Kindly take 2 minutes to read this letter, I guarantee it will put a smile on your face. How do I know? It put a smile on mine.
I’m a Crown Heights resident, married, with a bunch of kids bli ayin hara. I started my marital journey some 12 years ago and B”H we went from strength to strength in all aspects of life. Healthy and beautiful children, excellent schooling, parnassah (took some time though) and all other beautiful things life has to offer.
Throughout the years, as I saw in my parents’ home, we’ve helped a number of people whenever we could and especially before Yom-Tov.
This was done through a 3rd party so that we wouldn’t know whom the money was distributed to and vice versa.
Unfortunately 2 years ago the recession hit and the company I worked for closed up shop. The field I’m in took a great hit and like many others I’ve have been struggling to keep afloat.
On Wednesday night this week, I picked up some bags of onions and potatoes from E New York Avenue where they were distributing for free and delivered to some families I know could use it yet have no means of transportation to get there and back.
Being the bags weigh a ton, I set out on this 2 hour trip. I saved 1 bag of each for myself and headed home.
What I found under my door lifted a significant toll off my shoulders.
There was an envelope addressed to myself and my wife stating “Open Me! Do Not Throw Out.”
Upon opening the letter, I smiled from ear to ear. Wrapped in a paper towel there was $500 which happends wo be the exact amount I was outstanding for Pesach.
To the donor:
I don’t know who you are, but I’m sure you will soon read this thank you note (Just a sign to identify me, the 500 was split into 3×100 and 4×50).
I cannot thank you enough. All I know is that you probably would want me to pay it forward when I can. I assure you I will. I bless you with eternal joy, health, happiness and all the blessing that one could possibly fathom of.
Thank you again from the bottom of my heart.

BS:D The commentors are not the only ones happy to hear such a story. Read this: Rabbi VS obm taught in Conn ( before moving to CH ).He needed an operation , but could not afford the fee that the doctor wanted. Rabbi JJ Hecht obm interceded and the doctor reduced his fee to a more affordable amount. At his next Yechidus, Rabbi VS told the Rebbe what happened. The Rebbe was very happy and responded ” you have no idea what nachas ruach I have when my children take care of each other.”I heard this story from the son… Read more »
I got chills reading this…
One tree falling in the forest makes makes more noise than the entire forest growing. Good deeds like this take place every day, but the machlokes makes the most noise.
of course it happens. like you said with a case of chicken. usually not with $500 cash and even more bizarre is that the $500 was just what he needed for pesach???!!!
Love This Place!!!!
there is so much chessed and openhanded no questions giving it is very precious and life sustaining making the difference between not having and having a beautiful yom tov
These things definitely do happen, and happened to me too.
The company I worked for went bankrupt a few months ago, and within a couple of weeks of people finding out my situation, a large case of chicken was delivered to my door, paid and all – completely free!
There are very kind, anonymous people in CH, and it truly is a blessing to live in a place like this.
Amazing story, inspiring and beautiful, but as usual theres a but. That paper towel could have contained a bomb (ח”ו) or something else dangerous. The man who wrote this should have been more carerfull INCASE it was something bad. If somebody wants to do this amazing Mitzvah, make sure to do it in a way that wont make the person fearfully kick it to the garbage.
Only tears in my eyes. May you be blessed to continue doing mitzvos like this. And to the recipient: very soon you will be onthe other side.
Many people have been helped this erev pesach and many people have been Hakodosh Boruch Hu’s Shluchim in helping others, I am so proud to be a resident of this wonderful community! May Hashem bless us all to be on the GIVING end always!!
Hashem, mi keamcha yisroel? how beautiful, in merit of this story and all the other beautiful acts of true chessed, send us Moshiach Now!
so nice, how beautiful!!
I read your story and your most gracious Thank You to the One who left you a “gift” at your door and my heart and eyes well up with tears. Along the road I have lost my connection to Judaism and along the road I have been returning with my faith in G d and belief that it is the way to live in this chaotic world. Your story is what helps to bring to life my deep yearning for Torah. It was so special to me to read this and all I can say at this time is G… Read more »
