Five Towns Special Winter Camp

Over Presidents’ Week, participants in the Friendship Circle Winter Camp and Chabad of the Five Towns’ winter camp, had the time of their lives.

Each day started off with the teenage volunteers greeting their friends with special needs whom they would be hanging out with.

Friendship Circle wasted no time and got right into the swing of things?heading off to the most fabulous indoor jungle gym. The kids got to rock climb, slide, crawl, and make their way through the obstacle course.

The kids also checked out each specialty store?getting dressed in costume, caring for a pet in the vet?s office, or doing grocery shopping.

The next day, at the Levi Yitzchak Library, the kids got to hear the story of Purim and then make their own Purim characters and use the puppet theater to act out their favorite ones.

At the Long Island Gymnastic Academy, the non-stop action included playing with the parachute, jumping high on the trampolines, and much more fun. Next, at the ice skating rink, with the help of their friends, everyone got their ice skates on and made their way around?falling, standing, skating, and sliding.

As one mother put it, “No words can describe what it meant for us as parents to have our son at Chabad. The smile he comes home with each day is priceless.”

The last day of camp had to end with a bang. The bus set off to New York Hall of Science for a great day of hands on fun. The bus rides were all filled with song and games. For the final trip, the group visited the Teresa Academy of Performing Arts where the children had a great music and dance class.

The Friendship Circle will be having its annual Purim Drive. Teenage volunteers will be going around on March 13 delivering mishloach manot packages and bringing the Purim spirit to children’s homes.
