It’s summertime in the Five Towns and that means locals are looking forward to breakfast. The Colel Chabad breakfast, that is.
In its 30th year, the oldest charity organization in Israel will be holding their annual outdoor summer benefit to spruce up support for the less fortunate poor and needy living in Israel.
In fact, a group from Chabad of the Five Towns witnessed the nation-wide humanitarian activities of Colel Chabad during their recent visit to Israel. On that trip, they stopped at pantry packers to help prepare food for distribution.
Partnering with the Israeli government, Colel Chabad provides food security throughout the country. They help over 13,500 families with food every single month through the Blavatnik Family Food Banks and 21 soup kitchens.
Over the breakfast, to be hosted by Jonathan and Michal Weinstein in their home in Woodmere, participants will hear about the organization that was founded in 1788 by the Alter Rebbe, Rabbi Schneur Zalman of Liadi.
Welcoming guests on the sunny morning in the serene nature will be event chairman Dr. Richard Berry along with co-chairmen Danny Freundlich, Adam Parkoff and David Sokol.
“The Rebbe related that a chibah yesira, an additional love has been given to Colel Chabad,” says the organization’s director Rabbi Sholom Duchman. “Colel Chabad is a very holy institution with tremendous merits as written in many letters by Chabad Rebbes.”
The guest speaker will be Mr. Nathan Lewin, the nationally recognized lawyer who argued many Jewish-interest cases before the Supreme Court of the United States. Lewin is active in various Jewish fronts and was the leading attorney in the Chabad’s famous Seforim Case.

Zalmen and Chanie, You make the world for a brighter place.
G-d bless you.
Yitzchak
We volunteer at Colel Chabad at the Kotel whenever we are in Israel. They do a great job and feed many people every afternoon. It’s always our first stop in Jerusalem.
