New York City Firefighters rushed to the apartment building at 749 Eastern Parkway in Crown Heights on Monday afternoon where a fire broke out, threatening the many people residing there.
The building is known as the 749 dormitory for bochurim learning at the Central Yeshiva Tomchei Tmimim Lubavitch located across the street at 770 Eastern Parkway.
According to a report, firefighters have called for an all-hands at the scene and were using all available resources. They were able to extinguish the fire without any person harmed.
The fire may have been caused by a radiator that was left on to warm up on out the bedrooms and caught on fire.
Sprinklers inside the building may have contributed to containing the fire, one report said.

Is this the first fire ever in 749?!
I would love to know when there were other fires in 749.
Are any historians willing to speak up?
I think for precautionary reasons, they should seal it off and do a complete renovation with safety as top priority.
Once finished, they should unlock the building and ensure only registered students who attend 770 sedorim be permitted to sleep there.
That’s the basic dorm rule of every yeshiva.. Only full time students learning in the mosad may reside there.
770 must have an active hanhalah and administration to lay down the rules and make order.
The fire was caused by a radiator the building itself is safe.
And they are planning on starting renovations soon anyway (thats why there is the green fences around 749) after the renovation they plan on having a new seder on who gets to sleep in 749.
