Thursday, Erev Yud Tes Kislev, the vibrant atmosphere at Chabad Girls Academy was filled with joy and warmth as the students and their fathers came together for a special Annual Yud Tes Kislev lunch.
The highlight of the day was the much-anticipated Father and Daughter Farbrengen. One of the main reasons why we highlight the relationship between fathers and daughters was because the Alter Rebbe had a very special relationship with his daughter, and could continue spreading Chassidus with us all.
In the weeks leading up to this auspicious day, the girls of Chabad Girls Academy dedicated their time and efforts to prepare for this event. Divided into groups, each tasked with researching different aspects of the Alter Rebbe’s life, from his birth to his passing, the girls delved into the rich history, gathering beautiful stories, facts, and insights that would later come to life in a stunning art expo.
The culmination of their hard work and dedication was on display during the Father and Daughter Farbrengen, where fathers and daughters sat in pairs, immersing themselves into the life and teachings of the Alter Rebbe. The atmosphere was filled with excitement as the captivating stories and events from the Alter Rebbe’s life unfolded through the art expo, bringing the Alter Rebbes history to life.
To add a fun element to the event, cards with questions based on the life of the Alter Rebbe were distributed among the attendees. Fathers and daughters enthusiastically participated, testing their knowledge and gaining a deeper insights into the teachings of the Alter Rebbe. The announcement of winners added an extra element of fun.
A special highlight of the program was the privilege of hosting Rabbi Dov Yona Korn, Shliach of The Chabad House on the Bowery and a parent of the school. Rabbi Korn shared his inspiring journey of discovering Yiddishkeit and Chassidus at the age of 16. Initially uninterested in Yiddishkeit, he walked into the Yeshiva in Morristown, NJ with skepticism. However, after a week of intense farbrengens starting on Yud Tes Kislev, he experienced a profound transformation, realizing that he had found his spiritual home.
Rabbi Korn’s story served as a powerful reminder of the impact that Chassidus can have on us if we truly take the lessons Chassidus teaches us to heart and live with it.
The event not only celebrated the life of the Alter Rebbe but also highlighted the importance of passing on the torch of Chabad Chassidus from fathers to daughters.
Chabad Girls Academy’s Annual Yud Tes Kislev Father-Daughter Lunch was more than just a gathering; it was a meaningful and joyous occasion that strengthened the bonds between fathers and daughters while instilling a deeper appreciation for the teachings of the Alter Rebbe. The event echoed the school’s commitment to fostering a sense of community, creating lasting memories for all who attended.
