Fathers Join Daughters for Lunch and Learn at Chabad Girls Academy

Chabad Girls Academy celebrated Yud Tes Kislev with its annual Father-Daughter Lunch and Learn. Our Rebbeim teach that when we learn b’chavrusa, there are two neshamos strengthening one another, and a deep understanding and stronger love for Hashem emerges. At Chabad Girls Academy, we encourage parents to take the time to learn with their children. “There is nothing more beautiful than the bond we create when learning with our children,” says Mrs. Devorah Leah Kramer, Director.

At CGA we make it practical, with our annual Father-Daughter Lunch and Learn in honor of Yud Tes Kislev. The Lunch and Learn program, run by Mrs. Chanie Wise, program director, kicked off with each parent-child pair learning a sicha together. This was followed by a self check worksheet to showcase their newfound knowledge gleaned from the sicha. Fathers and Daughters worked on answering the questions based on the sicha and a raffle was drawn. Mazal tov to the winners, Rabbi Wolff and Libby! They received a gift certificate to Hameifitz.

In addition to the sicha learning, everyone studied the events and history behind Yud Tes Kislev – about the Alter Rebbe’s imprisonment and subsequent freedom – while enjoying a delicious fleishig catered lunch co-sponsored by Kamin Health – Crown Heights Urgent Care. Guest speaker Rabbi Bryski spoke passionately about how we need to wear Chassidic glasses to be able to see the world and its holiness and reveal the Kedusha in our surroundings. He shared empowering stories, adding another layer of learning to the event and helped us understand what it means to live b’poel like a Chassid.

The Alter Rebbe had a special connection with his daughters. We want to emulate everything our Rebbeim did and try to make it practical in our day to day lives. In the ever changing world we live in, where personal connections are much more challenging to maintain, it is programs like these that make all the difference in the world.

Parents’ reflections tell us that the program was a success!

“It was a beautiful program, it was simple and to the point of the power of Yud Tes Kislev in a way that the girls can appreciate”, Rabbi Korn mentioned. “It was lovely to learn with my daughter and to see the beautiful environment that she has the chance to grow in, much appreciation all around.”

Rabbi Wolff commented, “It was a beautiful and meaningful Yud Tes Kislev event for the girls. I am so happy I was invited. I was able to see first hand what type of beautiful school Mrs. Kramer is running. Thank you so much for everything you do!”

Rabbi Perlow mentioned that the learning was, “Beautiful. Very inspiring! I felt it was very educational and meaningful for the girls. Would be great to see more of these during the year.”
