Officials of the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) of New York are trying to determine what caused a small subway explosion in Brooklyn today.
The MTA closed the Nostrand Avenue station in Crown Heights as they investigated the explosion on the tacks of the No. 3 lines between Franklin and Utica avenues.
One transit worker was injured in the explosion, it has been reported.
It happened around 11:30 a.m. Fox News reports there was no subway service at the time the explosion occurred.
Officials say they believe something dropped onto the track, which ignited the minor blast. Service has been restored.
A maintenance crew was working underground at the time.
Many Lubavitch Chassidim, residents of Crown Heights, commute to work on the 3 train.
