As the much-awaited Elevator Pitch Competition prepares to go live, organizers at CHYE have created a brief workshop to train people in giving their killer pitch.
The 15-minute workshop is delivered by acclaimed business coach Joe Apfelbaum, CEO of Brooklyn-based digital marketing agency Ajax Union. Apfelbaum’s workshop covers the fundamentals of business pitching—from creating a catchy hook to developing a crafty business story, all the way to nailing the final ask.

“A great elevator pitch is not impossible to craft,” says Apfelbaum, “but neither should it be invented on the spot. You need to put a little effort into it. Don’t let your “ums” and “ahs” get in the way of raising millions of dollars for your next deal.”
The Elevator Pitch Challenge, coordinated by CHYE Director Rabbi Yehoshua Werde, is designed to promote growing entrepreneurialism within the Lubavitch community, and to give small businesses the tools and exposure they need to thrive in the modern business world. Competition winners will receive a $10,000 business package, including $1,000 in cash for their business.
“This is a great opportunity to create exposure for your business, and to hone the critical skill of business pitching,” Werde said.
Contestants can now post 30-60 second videos of their business pitches to the CHYE website. Videos will be accepted until May 26th. Voting will run from May 15th until May 29th.
“Get out there, create your business pitch, and start rallying for votes,” Werde says. “This is your chance to get your name out there, and win a fantastic prize”.
