Rabbi Moshe Lipa Rabinowitz, an elder respected member of the Chabad community in Jerusalem, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, 13 Shevat 5774.
He was 78.
An early riser who would daven with the daily “vasikin” minyan, Rabinowitz visited the mikvah in the Kiryat Sanz neighborhood on Tuesday morning.
At around 5:00 AM, Hatzalah paramedics were called to treat an unconscious man and were unable to revive him. They said it seemed like he slipped on the steps and fell in.
His sudden death shocked many, some who have recently traveled with him to the Ukrainian city of Hadiatch to visit the holy gravesite of the Alter Rebbe on his 200th yartzeit.
“He was so happy that he was able to travel there, and on the way he shared with us many chassidic stories, as he would do,” said his brother-in-law, Rabbi Yosef Hartman of Kiryat Malachi.
A warm Jew and dedicated chossid, Rabinowitz studied by the famed mashpia Rabbi Chaim Shaul Brook OBM. He set special times to learn Torah and chassidus and was good-hearted and charitable.
One of his beneficiaries was a Yeshiva in Vinnytsia, a city in central Ukraine, for youngsters who were rediscovering their Jewish roots. Rabinowitz would lead farbrengens with them, as he would often do in the Shikun Chabad neighborhood in Jerusalem and in the Kfar Chabad village.
A few years ago he attended the Global Yarchei Kallah summit of Chabad rabbis and rosh yeshivas held in New York’s Catskills. He spent the 4 days basking in their presence and attentively listening to their Torah discussions.
He is survived by his wife Shoshana Rabinowitz and children, R’ Yitzchok Rabinowitz – Jerusalem, R’ Shmuel Rabinowitz – Lakewood, NJ, R’ Dubi Rabinowitz – Crown Heights and R’ Yossi Rabinowitz – Kfar Chabad, Israel.
He is also survived by his siblings, Rabbi Hillel Rabinowitz – Jerusalem, Dayan Rabbi Chaim Yehuda Rabinowitz – Jerusalem and sister, Mrs. Ludmir – Bnei Brak.
His leveya took place today in Jerusalem. The family will be sitting shivah at 4 Elkana Street in Jerusalem.

seems like a tremendous individual
Shocked and sad.. A fine Mentch, Chossid whom I had the merit to meet at the wedding of his grandson in Kfar Chabad a week before this past Rosh HaShana. No sign of anything in his bright blue eyes..only חבלי משיח
Our heart goes to his wife Shoshana and children

חבל על דאבדין ולא משתכחין.
May this be me’orer us to learn from his life, והחי יתן אל לבו.
Sounds like he was a holy Jew! Sorry to hear of his passing!
But when Hashem blows the whistle, the time is up. Mikvah attendants and non slip stuff is good and safe.
a holy Yid
Always go with another person.
Dont go in water by yourself- maybe there should be a mikvah attendant for the men mikvahs just like the women?
It maybe a good learning lesson for all mikvas to install anti fongi, anti mold, anti slip grips on the steps in and around the mikvas and showers,, BDE
