The 200th yartzeit of the Alter Rebbe, Rabbi Schneur Zalman of Liadi, was marked in an emotional event in Weston, one of South Florida’s most desirable communities.
A symbolic number of 200 local community members have gathered at Chabad Lubavitch of Weston on Sunday for a evening celebrating the legacy and works of the founder of the Chabad movement.
Led by Shliach Rabbi Yisroel Spalter, the evening featured Rabbi Shabsi Alperin, Head Shliach of Brazil, who mesmerized the crowd with his fascinating stories and inspiring lessons.
Having heard about its importance, participants were deeply moved when the first pages of the Tanya emerged from the printer, making Weston yet another location where the central text of Chabad Chassidism was printed.
About an hour later as the last pages were finally printed, the crowd broke out into festive singing and dancing.
“We are the 6,123rd place to fulfill the Rebbe’s directive to bring the wellsprings of chassidus itself into its midst via printing the Tanya,” proclaimed Rabbi Spalter and went on to study chapter 32 from the newly printed edition.
