A new Sefer Torah, sponsored by the Nash family of Crown Heights, will be completed on Sunday, January 24.
The Torah will be completed on the ninth of Shvat, marking 40 years to the Siyum of the famed ‘Moshiach’s Sefer Torah.’
The writing of ‘Moshiach’s Sefer Torah’ began in 1942, by the Previous Rebbe, Rabbi Yosef Yitzchak Schneerson, who said, “Holding this Torah, we will march forth with the coming of Moshiach.”
The Torah was completed 28 years later by the Lubavitcher Rebbe, who said “Because of the special times we are about to enter, I would like to finish the Sefer Torah.” The Torah was completed with great celebration on the ninth of Shvat, January of 1970.
The final letters of the new Torah commemorating that celebration will be written at 579 Crown Street at 1:30 PM, and the Torah will be escorted to its new home at Beis Shimshon Shul, a congregation established three years ago by a group of Crown Heights yungeleit.
Looking forward t this special event of welcoming another Torah to our beautiful schuna. May we all learn from its teachings and merit to live by it instructions.
