In an unfortunate incident which occurred at a wedding in Modi’in Sunday night, a choson fell of a table he was dancing on and crashed to the floor 3 meters below, sustaining a severe head injury, VIN News reported. The choson, who was semi-conscious after the fall, was treated by medics and paramedics and transferred to the hospital in serious condition.
Itai Peretz, an MDA paramedic who treated the choson, related that “when we came into the wedding hall we found a 34-year-old man lying semi-conscious on the floor with a head injury. People said that he had fallen from a height of 3 meters. We gave him first aid on the scene and evacuated him in serious but stable condition. However, the choson’s condition has deteriorated and he is currently sedated and intubated at the Tel Hashomer hospital.”
The wedding’s photographer Mendi Shif described the incident to Israel’s Kahn 11 News.
“The crowd raised the chosson on a table, as he stood on it. He then lost his balance and tried to sit down and fell back,” Shif said.
“The orchestra stopped playing, and we didn’t really understand what was going on but when we saw the chosson not responding, we understood something terrible had happened,” he said.
“The kallah’s father ran over to her and kept telling her, ‘it’s going to be ok, it’s going to be ok,'” Shif said. Her friends then took her to the side and tried to distract her.
The chosson’s condition remains critical and he is sedated. Doctors are fighting to keep him alive, a reporter of Kahn 11 said.
The public is asked to say Tehillim for Itai ben Ahuva.

All this table jumping at chasanas has got to stop. When I got married I didn’t even want to go on my friends shoulders – BH i received a proper chinuch and guarded my safety. Poor Chosson. Nobody’s fault just recklessness that’s in our culture. Davening for his recovery!
Doesn’t sound like he was dancing on it, they raised it while he was standing and he tried to sit down. The choson or kallah is usually lifted on a chair or table in a wild and enthusiastic way by a crowd of others without really having a say in the matter!
Accidents happen. Don’t over react. A person can trip or fall doing anything.
Who of all those table lifters take responsibility? None!
So think before you comment!

People don’t realize how many people are seriously injured from falling off ladders. Google it. It’s dangerous to hit your head on a hard surface even if you’re standing on the ground, how much more so 3 metres off the ground.
These huge tables are often raised in a way that anyone can fall from ppl shake it and get way too excited unfortunately have seen first hand many chossonim and kallas being cought last minute-let’s be careful and let us daven for his speedy recovery
