A newly released video shared a first-hand memory of R’ Yisrael Aryeh Leib Schneerson, the brother of the Rebbe, in honor of his yartzeit on the 13th of Iyar.
Born in Nikolayev in 1909, he quickly became renowned as a scholar of exceptional genius, recalled the late Rabbi Zalman Serebransky who has met him in his teenage years.
Leibel, as he was called, was the youngest of Rabbi Levi Yitzchak and Chana Schneerson‘s three sons.
At a young age, Yisrael Aryeh Leib was already teaching Tanya, the mystical foundational work of Chabad Chassidism, to an audience of eager adults.
He eventually immigrated to Israel, and in his later years he moved to Liverpool, England, to study in the local university. It was there that he passed away in 1952. He was interred in Tzfas, Israel.
Rabbi Serebransky shared his memories of meeting Leibel and his brother Berel in a conversation in 1988 with Rabbi Chaim Dalfin, an author and researcher who is married to his granddaughter.

One time when Reb Zalman went to Yekatrinislav to take a group of bochurim there he went into Reb Leviks house. While there Reb Levik spoke two hours of Kabboloh but Reb Zalman said he does not remember what he said.
Thank you for sharing.
For accuracy sake it should state that Reb Zalman was one of the founders of the mosdos in Melbourne. Not ‘founder’ which connotes that he was the only one.
A tremendous chossid.

R’ Zalman says ער איז געליבן בא די דייטשן, אומגליקליך אז ער איז געשטארבן. Not the way it was translated “or he died”
Rebbetzin Chana used to take pride in her “mebul” (furniture in Yiddish) which is an acronym of her three sons. M for the Rebbe, B for Berel & L for Leibel
He passed away at 43 years old
If I’m not mistaken, Berel was the youngest.
