An IDF soldier was killed and 15 other people were injured, one seriously, in a road accident between an Egged bus and a truck on Route 6 on Wednesday.
One of those injured is Zev ben Kochava, a Lubavitcher from Crown Heights who is a volunteer soldier in the IDF.
The Egged bus 960 from Jerusalem to Haifa had pulled over on the side of the road on Highway 6 when a truck traveling behind it swerved to try to pass the bus on its left, causing steel rods it was carrying to come loose and collide with the bus, Sharon District Police said.
The steel rods blew out the windows in the entire back half of the bus and caved in part of the back of the vehicle.
The wounded passengers were taken to the Meir Medical Center in Kfar Saba and the Rabin Medical Center in Petach Tikvah for treatment. One of the wounded remained in serious condition as of Wednesday evening.
