An historic Chabad Shul in Tel Aviv, built 106 years ago before the city was founded, is scheduled for demolition by the municipality.
A visit by the COL crew in Israel has discovered the “Ain Yaakov” synagogue on the border of Tel Aviv and Yafo abandoned and locked up.
The Windows of the shul are blocked and a metal door closed off the entrance.
Neighbours told COL that the city has done this to remove homeless and drug addicts who hung around the premises.
A local architect, who lives near the synagogue, claimed that it is possible to renovate the building and “bring life to the neighborhood.”
Many Lubavitch Chasidim, such as the late Reb Shmuel Zalmanov and Reb Yona Yudasin, prayed at the shul. Its spiritual leader was Rabbi Schneor Zalman Slonim.
they can find the money, and use the shul for its original purpose
i would love to donate something to such a place!
make a foundation and let the public know
smash the door open
then the shul could be a shul once again.
