You guys crack me up! for starters, take a deep breath. it seems you have quite a bit of frustration that you need to let out. I think that people are impressed by musicians being themselves so if a guy wore jeans and a tshirt for years before he was “an artist” , to now change into chasidic garb for his performance would be “an act” and chassidic thought is not so much about acting. I couldn’t agree with you more!!!! I thought of the same thing. Look at Benny Friedman and chasiddishe musicians how they can keeps their eidele look of a chosid and don’t perform in a wild manner to copy the goyishe style. Hopefully, they will continue this way! Learn from them and others like them! If you think that this is how you are mekrev people, I can tell you it’s just the opposite and you shame the Rebbe. We must learn from musicians like Yosef Karduner. He is an accomplished musician, a true Baal Teshuva, yet he does not find it necessary to dress “artsy, or funky”. In juxtaposition, we have musicians in Lubavitch, who were born into Chassidishe families, (some of who’s parents are shluchim… ) yet they need to “express themselves and confirm their individuality” by dressing in a garb which in their perception, identifies them as “serious musicians”.
