Boys Learn 76,724 Mishnayos

76,724 lines of Mishnayos, Tanya, Gemorah and Yedia Klolis were learned Ba’al Peh by the Talmidim of Yeshivas Tomchei Temimim Montreal as a gift to the Rebbe.

In Honor of Yud-Alef Nissan, the Rebbe’s 110th birthday, the boys in YTTL Montreal were preparing intensely by learning and reviewing Ba’al Peh.

The special “Mivtza Hachana” went from Yud Shevat until Yud Alef Nissan with a grand total of 76,724 lines learned, which included Mishnayos, over 8,500 lines of Tanya, Gemorah and a special Yedia klolis booklet.

From after Pesach until last week the Yeshiva was buzzing with the excitement of the weekly Pirkei Avos tests, followed by a second round of semi-finals with 39 boys competing, and then the finals with 23 boys entering to this stage.

The Chidon Perkei Avos was originally initiated by the unforgettable Horav Eliezer Wenger O”H, and was sponsored by his family L’ilu nishmoso.

The winners received a total of $1000.00 worth of gift certificates to Kehos book store. There were also weekly raffles for seforim for those that passed the weekly test. A new addition this year was a special weekly raffle for a bike sponsored by R’ Meir Gniwisch, with a helmet sponsored by Mr. Putterman.

These two events were celebrated this past Sunday in the auditorium of the Yeshiva. Rabbonim, Roshei Yeshivos, parents and friends joined together to recognize and congratulate the achievements of the students.

Rabbi Moshe Shur welcomed everyone and praised the Talmidim’s accomplishments and achievements. Horav Berel Bell from the Rabbonei Anash in Montreal gave over Divrei Berocha.

Rabbi Shmuel Vaisfiche, the school’s extra-curricular director, distributed the beautiful seforim sets to all the students and announced the winners of the Chidon Pirkei Avos. He also thanked the school’s dedicated administrator Mr. Shimmy Traurig.
