Bochurim Honor Rebbe’s Brother

Yeshivas Tzeirei Hashluchim in Tzfas, Israel, marked the yartzeit of R’ Yisrael Aryeh Leib Schneerson, brother of the Rebbe, on Friday, the 14th of Iyar.

The day began with a festive breakfast gathering emceed by Mendel Ceitlin, who organized the events together with fellow Talmidim Hashluchim Avremel Gluck, Mendel Zwiebel and Mendel Treitel.

The Rosh Yeshiva Rabbi Zalman Kaplen opened the event with discussing a sicha from the Rebbe which explores the meaning of the name of the Rebbe’s brother who was a scholar of exceptional genius at a young age.

Guest speaker was Rabbi Yosef Chitrik, Director of Beit Chana seminary in Tzfas and one of the Rebbe’s Shluchim to Israel. He spoke about how this day is one of the only days that shows a chossid’s personal connection with the Rebbe.

Rabbi Chaim Kaplan, Head Shliach and Director of the Yeshiva, shared details about his late father’s connection with the Rebbe’s brother’s family in Israel and England.

The bochurim then watched a video of Yud Shevat 5735 in which the Rebbe speaks with a Professor Rosenblum about R’ Yisrael Aryeh Leib’s insights on mathematics and that he should work on publishing them.

From there, the entire yeshiva went to the historic cemetery in Tzfas to say Tehillim at the grave of the Rebbe’s brother. On Friday night, the Shabbos meal farbrengen was dedicated to the specialty of the day.
