Bais Shmuel Chabad celebrated a groundbreaking event on Sunday, for their planned new state-of-the-art center in the heart of Crown Heights, which will not only serve the shul but the entire community.
The Shul, which is renowned for its warm community, innovative programming, and for providing an open and inviting place to visit for all those who arrive from around the world, will be building a new home for their Shul, events, programming, and community center.
The center will be built at Union Street and Albany Avenue in Crown Heights and will be working towards the betterment of the entire community with the building of a welcoming new Shul.
MC for the event Sam Stern noted that despite the challenging times in New York and in Crown Heights, Bais Shmuel is planning to invest $12 million right here in the neighborhood, to build a magnificent new community center, shul, and “a place where our families can come and feel comfortable,” he said.
Rabbi Levi Garelik, Rov of the Bais Shmuel community, addressed the crowd, noting that the treasures we seek in the world, are right here in our own community of Crown Heights. He thanked Rabbi Moshe Pinson, founder of Bais Shmuel Chabad, for seeing the treasures and working to cultivate them, right here in Crown Heights.
R’ Yisrolik Mochkin spoke about the name of the Shul, which was named in honor of his father, R’ Shmuel Mochkin obm, noting that it is a fitting tribute to his memory.
Rabbi Yosef Chaim Kantor, Head Shliach of Thailand, spoke on behalf of the many Shluchim around the world who visit Bais Shmuel throughout the year. R’ Dudi Farkash, one of the early members of the Bais Shmuel board, spoke as well.
Rabbi Moshe Pinson then thanked all the donors and supporters, who were then called up to take part in the groundbreaking ceremony, using a shovel which was used in the historic groundbreaking of 770 Eastern Parkway.
The festivities concluded with all families of the Shul taking part in the groundbreaking, in great anticipation of the magnificent new center which will be built in the near future.
