Two musical friends, singer Nemouel Harroch and producer Dani Avidani, joined forces for the past 3 years to offer a fresh yet authentic remake of beloved Chabad niggunim.
Accompanied by both men and boys choirs, the duo performed 10 Chassidic melodies in 4 recording studios for the new album titled “Hisgalut.”
The album includes Odecho, Kol Dodi, Shehasholom Shelo, Yismechu Bemalchuscha, Nigun Reb Sholom Charitonov, Vayivchar Duvid, Nigun L’shabbos V’yom tov and Nigun Harebbi.
An additional track of 5:13 minutes is titled “Machroizes 11 Nissan,” a collection of songs composed by chassidim on the chapters of Tehillim said in honor of the Rebbe’s birthdays.
“This is one of the most interesting projects in the world of Chassidic music in the past few years,” says music publicist Tomer Cohen.
The popular French-born wedding singer, known by his first name Nemouel, says he has a passion for niggunim which he sings with his children at the Shabbos table.
“Every once in a while I introduce another niggun and we sing it until they know it well and it enters our Shabbos ‘playlist’,” he says. “Once, during singing, my 6-year-old son shed a tear. I asked him why. He said the niggunim are just so heartfelt.”
Nemouel says he wanted to share that same emotional connection with the wider public. “That Motzoei Shabbos, I decided to release an album of niggunim – and the very next morning I began working on it.”
