A grand Shabbos Bee took place Monday in Oholei Torah, with participants from all local Yeshivas.
For the past seven weeks the boys have been learning in depth the 39 Melachos as well as numerous situations where they had to apply their knowledge and “pasken” either “Muter” or “Ossur,” together with the reason for their Psak.
Rabbi Levi Borenstein served as the MC, and found it hard to stump the boys. The parents and educators who attended the Bee were astounded at the knowlege of the contestants.
16 boys emerged as winners in the final round.
Each contestant was awarded a beautiful two volume set of Sefer Hasichos and was entered into the grand raffle for a set of Mamorim Melukat.
The following were the finalists: Zalman Butman, Dovid Geisinsky, M.M. Weinfeld, Levi Yaffee, Aharon Lieberov, S.Z. Lishner, Yisroel Lerer, Levi Mintz, Tzvi Morozov, Berl Nemirovsky, M.M. Sorkin, M.M Sorkin, Boruch Schneur Kraus, Daniel Schwartzberg, M.M. Shloush and Tzvi Schmalberg.
The Shabbos Bee is a unique project developed by the Yeshivas Erev Yehuda Kalman of Crown Heights under the auspices of the Igud Menahalei Yeshivos.
Hundreds of boys from local Crown Heights yeshivas attend the Yeshivas Erev program every evening from 7 to 8 pm in various shuls located throughout the neighborhood.
The project is sponsored in memory of Chaim Menachem Ben Reuven and Pessi Bas Shmuel Yosef.
