The Chabad of the Valley Girls NY Trip 09 touched down at JFK early Thursday morning after an overnight flight from Burbank, CA. From reciting Tefilas Haderech as the plane took off, to davening Shacharis at the Jewish Children’s Museum to start the day on Thursday, the inspiring spiritual journey that is the purpose of this yearly event got underway.
Thursday’s activities included riding the subway to Manhattan to take in as many sights as possible. Rockefeller Center, the “American Girl” store, Lunch at Café K, the “Nintendo” store, Times Square, riding the Ferris Wheel at Toys R Us, ESPN Zone, souvenir shopping, and dinner at Jerusalem II, ending with a ride back to Crown Heights in a stretch Hummer.
“My favorite part of the trip so far was definitely ESPN Zone!” said one excited participant. “I’d have to say the whole day was my favorite part!” said another. “If you help me, I will say the Dvar Torah at breakfast tomorrow!” shouted an enthusiastic young girl, as they discussed the next days’ schedule in the limo ride home.
“The combination of the non-stop action along with breaks for prayer services, kosher food, blessings and words of Torah, will surely leave indelible memories on the girls which will surely have a most positive effect,” said the trip organizer.
On Monday the group is scheduled to visit the Rebbe’s room and the Ohel.
