2 Killed in Jerusalem Stab Attack

Update: Two Israelis wounded in a terror attack in Jerusalem died of their injuries on Wednesday evening, hospital officials in Jerusalem said.

Rabbi Reuven Biermacher HY”D, a beloved Rebbe in the Aish HaTorah Spanish program, passed away from massive injuries in this morning’s Palestinian terror attack, Yeshiva World News reported.

Rabbi Biermacher was a resident of TelshStone. He is survived by his wife and seven children.

The second fatality has been identified by Israeli authorities as Ofer Ben Ari, 46, HY”D.

It is believed he was killed by mistaken border police gunfire as they attempted to neutralize the terrorists.

Ben Ari, a resident of Jerusalem, is survived by his two children.

Two terrorists carried out a stabbing attack early Wednesday afternoon at Jerusalem’s Jaffa Gate. One person is critically wounded, and two seriously wounded. Both terrorists were killed.

The terrorists were shot by female Border Police soldiers at the scene. The person in critical condition was wounded by gunshot, possibly by fire from the Border Police. The other two were stabbed.

The critically wounded person and one seriously wounded by knife were taken to Shaare Zedek Medical Center. The third seriously wounded person was taken to Hadassah Medical Center.

Chief Superintendent Asi Aharoni, a spokesman for the Jerusalem district, said that female Border Police officers are stationed at the Jaffa Gate Border on a security mission, and they noticed a crowd of people running in panic in their direction. “They understood immediately that an attack was occurring and they bravely ran to the site, identified two terrorists with knives while one was stabbing someone. They shot at them precisely and prevented more innocent people from getting hurt.”

Aharoni reported that the shooting victim may have been wounded by the Border Police. “The police are very highly trained and skilled, but it is possible that a person was wounded by gunfire. Nevertheless, thanks to their heroic action they prevented a much more serious attack from taking place.”
