The Federman family, selfless shluchim to the Virgin Islands, have gotten up from shiva following the drowning death of the four-month-old Shterna, the youngest of 13 siblings.
However, more than a week after her child’s tragic passing, Henya Federman remains unconscious and is on life support in a hospital in Miami.
“We are all focused now on ensuring that Henya receives the best medical care possible,” the family said in a statement. “And the children are presently together in Detroit (the place on the mainland with which they are most familiar), where they are being enveloped in the loving embrace of grandparents, aunts, uncles and their entire extended family.”
Over the past week, countless Mitzvos have been performed (one online count has reached 48,083 as of Wednesday), hours of Torah study has been dedicated in her merit, and tears and Tefillos have been streaming to heaven.
But more must be done.
To that end, 14 Kislev (the anniversary of the Rebbe’s marriage to Rebbetzin Chaya Mushka) is being declared a “Day of Tehillim” and all are urged to pause whatever they are doing at exactly 12 eastern to recite Perakim 20 and 41 in the merit of a miraculous recovery for Henya bas Brachah Devorah Leah.
In light of this being a Hakhel year—when Jews hold inspirational gatherings large and small—people are encouraged to say these chapters of Tehillim together with others to whatever degree possible.
Add your Mitzvah for Henya to the online count here and donate to the Federman Family Fund here.
