The upcoming Rosh Hashana 5772 will be the 11th year that a group of Crown Heights residents are gathering in a rented location to “Daven Like a Mentsch.”
Mishkan Menachem, the Shabbos shul which operates year-round from the Jewish Children’s Museum, has once again announced it will be holding its Tishrei minyan at the Lubavitcher Yeshiva.
“We created this shul because we wanted an atmosphere of chassidishe davening,” said the founders, Rabbi Yossi Zwiebel, a school teacher, and Dovid Sputz, a real estate developer.
“We are open for people looking for a shul which is very sincere and where you can daven like a mentsch without any disruptions and interference,” they said. “We have great baalei Tefillah and there is complete silence during davneing.”
A crowd of close to 400 people – men, women and children of all ages – has filled the shul for Rosh Hashana and Yom Kippur in past years, located at ULY on Crown Street and Albany Avenue.
While they have been sold out in the past, Zwiebel and Sputz told COLlive.com they are reducing the price for a limited time to $39 (only if reserved by Elul 15. After that seats go for $75).
The Chazzan this year will be Uri Frankel with Rabbi Michoel Golumb, their year-round rov and mashpia, as the bal tokeiah.

a chossid should know that 770 is the place to daven by the rebbe
its mabye 11 years since they started renting crow st for you tov. but the shul is about 17 years or more
rabbi zwiebel got married 14 years ago so if this shul is only 11 years old he was not a bochur anymore.
The closest I found when I used to live in CH was Rabbi Levys shul on Kingston av. Not perfect, but the closet to a ‘normal’ shul.
Is there any “no talking-no cell phone” shul that operates during regular days ?
and auntie eidle!
not to forget perets bornstein who put timeless effort to the shul.?
it seems like $39 is a lack of interest. but i hope we can hear the chazan its a big place
the shul was founded by Moty Gurary (i was from the 1st few who started joining the minion. zwiebel was only the bal korah as a bochur. sputs was no where near the shul.
I daven in 770 and there is absolutely NO talking on Rosh Hashana and Yom Kippur!
but its always good to have another ‘no talking shul’
THIS SHUL IS THE BEST THING THAT HAPPENED IN CH THE DEVOTIONOF YOSSI ZEIBEL AND DOVID SPUTZ IS NOTHING SHORT OF AMAZING.
Amazing!!!
