Many thought it was impossible to pull off a fullscale Jewish Music Festival in Downtown Portland, Oregon.
Fortunately, local Chabad Shliach Rabbi Chayim Mishulovin did not agree.
Thanks to the One Above and an amazing effort by all the local Chabad communities, the Jewish Federation and many local supporters, a historic event took place on October 13th, Chol Hamoed Sukkos at the famous Pioneer Courthouse Square.
With attendance numbers approaching 1,000 the energy was something special to witness. The festival featured 8th Day performing their hits and some holiday classics and audience members danced and clapped along throughout the entire hour plus concert. As some people mentioned after the event was over, “Portland will never be the same!”
The event was also inspired by the year of Hakhel, a time the Lubavitcher Rebbe pushed strongly for large gatherings of Jews of all types and ages to get together for unity events.
