Family and friends from around the world came together at Lubavitch Yeshiva in Crown Heights to observe the first Yahrtzeit of Mrs. Chaya Zlata Geisinsky obm, Shlucha of Bethesda – Chevy Chase, Maryland.
The deep pain and great void persists even a year after her passing at the prime of her life on the first of Tamuz last year. Mrs. Zlata Geisinsky obm was immensely respected and admired by thousands in the community where she was on Shlichus.
Although mostly emotional, the yahrtzeit gathering also had an uplifting aura, as those in attendance took part in a Siyum Sefer Torah dedicated in her memory.
The Sefer Torah was sponsored with enormous adoration by the greater community of Mrs. Geisinsky’s Shlichus and by all members of her family. A large public Hachnosas Sefer Torah is scheduled to take place in Maryland later this summer in conjunction with the 18th of Elul celebrations.
Upon completion of the final letters, Rabbi Bentzion Geisinsky, Mrs. Geisinsky’s husband, did hagba and asked that Hashem should quickly ‘perform hagba’ by lifting Klal Yisroel out of golus. He said that he was sure that this Sefer Torah dedicated to a Shlucha who gave her entire being to bring the geulah will soon join the great procession of all other Sifrei Torah to greet Moshiach Tzidkeinu.
She was the most selfless, caring, loving, and devoted person I knew! May Hashem give her husband and children the strength they need to go on.
