On Yud Shvat, students of all departments of Bais Rivkah Montreal, were involved in special programs. Three busloads of elementary students (in addition to a number of students who walked), visited senior citizens’ homes throughout the city, to bring simcha words of encouragement and the message of Hakhel. The children received an enthusiastic welcome from the residents and grateful staff. Among the songs that the children sang with the residents were familiar tunes like Shma Yisroel and Adon Olom. The residents received coins for Tzedoko and they sang along, providing them the opportunity to daven. The students returned greatly inspired and happy to have fulfilled the Rebbe’s wishes.
Before the children boarded the busses, they watched the video “Precious Moments With the Rebbe.”
Grades 7 and 8 prepared an exciting, original mivtzoim carnival for children of pre-school through grade 2.
Thanks to Mrs. Pessy Minkowitz for organizing these programs.
On the evening of Yud Shvat, the older high school students had an inspiring farbrengen with Mrs. Manya Lazaroff, shlucha in College Station, Texas, who flew in specifically for this farbrengen. On Yud Shvat, they had a beautiful program, where they watched a video of the Rebbe saying part of the first maamor Basi Legani 65 years ago and heard words of inspiration from Mrs. Mushka Itkin.
A panel of emigrants from communist Russia, consisting of Rabbi Moishe Reikhtman, Mrs. Yana Levin and Mrs. Chana Sirota, eloquently and emotionally answered questions posed by the G.O. Heads Naomi Azoulay and Chaya Mockin regarding living as Jews in communist Russia. This put in to focus the amazing work by the Frierdiker Rebbe and the Rebbe in Soviet Russia.
All the high school students were addressed by Rabbi Moshe New at the lunch-farbrengen.
Thanks to Mrs. Chani Gansbourg, Sara Albukerk and Rina Rubin, heads of Achos HaTmimim, for arranging the high school programs.
All students in the entire school (pre-school, elementary and high school), wrote an individual pan to be brought to the Ohel.
