Why is that their lingo? What’s up with our schools and our environment? What’s being spoken by our Shabbos tables? Where are our children spending their afternoons and with who are they communicating? What are the subjects of their discussions between the Gemoro and the Chummesh and who is paying attention? Believe me, I have no issues with kids having fun and spending time playing etc. but did anyone notice how intense are the stuff in their life that are not Torah and Mitzvos? Did anyone notice that camps give trophies 🏆 for wining a ball game?! Just think about… Read more »
Giving Out trophies in camp is completely ridiculous, and is a major source of the problem.
Give these kids a break!
Or maybe these boys just came from recess and played sports so that’s what’s (naturally) on their minds.
They are young boys! What do you think their rabbi would’ve said at that age? He would have said the same exact thing! Why do you have to find an issue with everything?!
Why are you looking for a problem?! Every kid is like this! Then, they grow up and become more mature, and, trust me, none of them will become baseball players.
I don’t think it’s a really a big deal for an 8 year old to say he wants to be a baseball player or something similar. I’ve seen kids saying they want to be a youtuber for years. Its not different from saying a millionaire or what not. Its at their maturity level.
Who are their role models?
What and who inspires them?
I was hoping perhaps someone would say a shliach…
If not, at least a businessman so he can give tzedaka, a doctor so he can heal people.
Is idealism gone? Have we raised self-absorbed kids who are part of and aspire to the secular culture?
I am not blaming the schools. What chinuch are kids getting at home?
Of course they are saying this! It doesn’t mean they don’t want to be a rabbi or Shaliach, this is just what they are interested in now. It doesn’t mean they are not interested in learning but this is their fun and their idea of a job is something exciting or fun. Also, learning is associated with school and for most kids school is something they dislike.
Learning can be made relevant to the lives of the kids. This is what inspired generations. The fact that “frum” “culture” is drowning in garbage that makes them chase things that bring no real simchas hachaim and are usually unattainable is a shame. Where is the parents’ koch – Trump-Biden and the NY Nicks or in a Chasidisher Story, a Gemara, a Halacha, a Hiddur, a lesson from Siddur – all that a kid can understand. And schools can teach to inspire or they can bog down with sheroshim and homework and much homework, killing any cheishik. There used to… Read more »
If being a Rebi, a Sofer, a Talmid Chochom, etc looked so cool to them, then wouldn’t they answer that as well?
When I was younger I wanted to be an architect, a beatboxer in Maccabeats, and a singer. Now I just wanna be alone.
Kids that grow up in a chasidishe house don’t think that way.
I really think that we have to think do we want our kids to think that sports is the main thing or is learning and davening the main thing
“Drive a school bus”
🤣
One of the most creative people in Pittsburgh!
Rabbis Reinetz and Feldman are incredible teachers. Thank you for your devotion to our boys!
Boys will be boys. It’s ok for frum boys to like sports & play sports & coach sports.Relax! Honestly he may be a shaliach who inspires those who are involved in sports to Yiddishkeit. He may create sports in a frum CHASSIDISHER environment for special needs children or those who thrive on sports? Why so judgmental? Cute kids dedicated rebbis.
This goes way against the Rebbe’s approach to chinuch. Children’s entire focus should be ruchnius. Why do they even know what basketball players are? I grew up on shlichus, but completely despised sports players who live the goyishe life, completely opposite all the values I was brought up with. Of course, my dream was to become a shliach. Something is VERY wrong with these children’s chinuch (not necessarily the teachers. Maybe the parents, maybe the internet). This is a true chilul Hashem and chilul Lubavitch. The concealment of this darkest golus is beginning to overcome us. Hashem, if You want… Read more »
Stop judging. And start being kind and considerate.
