The Chabad Mesivta in Brunoy, France, a division of Yeshiva Tomchei Tmimim there, has presented an effective way to praise its accomplished students.
During a Kinus Torah gathering on Monday, they had their own bochurim emcee and deliver shiurim to the entire Yeshiva.
Moshe Winner, a Shliach in the Mesivta, said the concept was in accordance with the Rebbe‘s wishes that bochurim should excel in learning, in addition to their behavior.
Yisroel Aryeh Leib Azimov made a siyum on the entire Gemara Brachos which the Mesivta has been learning this year as part of the Girsa seder.
Menachem Mendel Kolsky discussed the bracha that is recited on rice according to the Alter Rebbe’s Shulchan Aruch. Menachem Mendel Marasow explored the concept of changing Jewish customs.
Given out at the gathering was a new booklet of Torah essays titled “Ya’eti Umatzasi” written entirely by the bochurim with coordination by Levi Majesky, a Shliach in the Mesivta.
The Mesivta’s director Rabbi Yoel Edelman, Mashpia Rabbi Menachem Mendel Abrahms and staff handed certificates to excelling bochurim:
Shmuel Ben Shushan and Tzemach Gansburg received the “Good learning and behavior” award.
Dovid Leib Pashter, Menachem Kalmenson and Levi Yitzchok Partouch received the “Advancement and accomplishment” award.
Menachem Mendel Ben Musa and Yosef Mendel Heintz received “Chassidishe behavior” award and the seder “Chassidus Mevueres.”
