This past Shabbos, Parshas Ki Tisa, Tomchei Tmimim Lubavitch of Queens held a Father and Son Shabbaton in the Pocono Mountains.
The bochurim went up on Thursday, stopping on the way to go ice skating, a trip which was earned after an intense two-week Mivtza, of perfect sedorim, a lot of extra learning and extra Mivtzoim.
The fathers came up Friday afternoon and were greeted with warm welcomes from their kids, eager to spend some one on one time with their fathers.
The program began with a Chinuch workshop, on parenting, given by the Menahel of the Yeshiva, Rabbi Mendel Scharf. The workshop discussed building a teenager’s self-esteem as well as bridging the gap between home and Yeshiva.
The workshop was engaging, with many fathers taking notes, asking questions and sharing their thoughts.
Throughout the Shabbos, fathers had the opportunity to feel like they were back in Yeshiva again; having chavrusa learning with their sons, listening to amazing shiurim and participating in inspiring farbrangens.
The highlight of the program was the Melava Malka banquet, where Talmidim and fathers spoke Divrei Torah, told stories and expressed their gratitude for the Yeshiva and its unique way of creating high standards while still paying attention to each individual Talmid.
Two Fathers were honored for their devotion and help to the Yeshiva.
There was also a special video presentation, helping to give the fathers a glimpse into a Bochur’s day in the Yeshiva.
The Melava Malka was followed by live music played by two bochurim of the yeshiva and dancing, in honor of the joy of Adar.
Boruch Hashem, it was an inspiring and uplifting Shabbos for all fathers and Talmidim, the staff said.
