Members of the Board of Directors of the Crown Heights Jewish Community Council met with representatives of Brooklyn Community Board 8 this week.
The topic of their discussion was improving the service at the United States Postal Service Post branch on S. Johns Place.
“Frequent complaints have been heard over the years that the level of service at that branch is below standard,” said CHJCC Executive Director Rabbi Eli Cohen.
Community Board 8’s representative on the USPS Brooklyn Advisory Council will be bringing these concerns to the table at a future meeting.
The suggestion was also made that Crown Heights would benefit from Sunday hours at one of the local branches, COLlive was told.
This issue will also be addressed to the Post Office at the next Advisory Council meeting.
it takes them three weeks to deliver something from NJ which btw takes an hour (and a half)to commute from
Agree with #12. I’ve never been to St. Johns but Empire is terrible!!!
The usps 11213 is the most incompetent and the woman driver should be prosecuted. I never receive my packages and i check online and it says attempted delivery when there wasn’t any notice left and there was a houseful of people home! Then I have to wait on line for an hour and deal with the rude postal workers or wait forever for the package to be redelivered
what a horrible joke, when it comes to our local USPS
use any other delivery service-NOT THEM
you can wait for ages for your package to be redelivered-IF IT EVER DOES!!!
You think the st. johns one is bad?? Ever tried the post office on empire-? Ugh can’t get worse then that!!
I once called Washington DC to complain. I spent close to an hour repeating my story and being transferred back from the federal all the way to the local office, step by step. After that instead of receiving the 6 pieces of mail weekly that i had been accustomed to for years, i started receiving 6 pieces a day!
I have tons of problems with USPS 11213, they supposedly attempt delivery but never do… Here is 2 things to help you 1. Make a redelivery request online and save the confirmation code, wait a day and wait for them to “redeliver” which they will not do, then call USPS consumer affairs 718-438-3900 speak to gloria johonson and she will have the USPS driver running to your house the next day… works every time. 2. If you have surveillance cameras, please save the footage of the supposed delivery time (see ur orange card for the time) and send the footage… Read more »
For all the aggravation they caused me! They are terrible! I never receive my item , i think once i did and it came a month late! and when i check the trachking info, it says it was delivered but i never got it!! Actually right now this is whats happening to me! i must remember to write to shipping not to send with usps!!!
the one on St Johns requires an advance appointment and HOURS of waiting time to make a passport. we went to boro park instead – half hour without an appntment!
Thank you, thank you for making this much-needed complaint! I’ve even witnessed, more than once, how racial tensions flared up on the line in that post office, simply because everyone was waiting much, much too long. I tried personally to complain online at one point, but I totally got the bureaucratic runaround. A man on the line once said he’d been in the post office the day an inspector came, and the place was run perfectly beautifully. Then next day, it was bad business as usual… I LOVE going away in the summer to small-town post offices that are run… Read more »
I see this as Divine Providence and Reciprocation.
I’ve had several problems with this post office. Particularly on one occasion, Matzah, several boxes, I gave to them to be sent to family and friends, and was lost due to their incompetence.
whenever i order things over the phone from various companies, i specifically request that they should not send it with USPS bec i know from quite e few past experiences that USPS NEVER delivers it to my apartment. I would always just receive a notice on the front door of my building stating that they “attempted” to deliver my package but i wasn’t home- when i was actually home the whole day. That means i have to go down to the post office and wait who- knows- how-long to get my package bec the driver couldnt be bothered to come… Read more »
As a 27 year employee at the post office in upstate ny ,I’ve heard it all about the horrible service in CH and I’m appalled at the stories I’ve heard. I so look foward to the summers where all my friends from Brooklyn, Monsey, Lakewood and other places come to visit for their vacation. They come in and the first thing they say is “what , no bars on the counters?”… I spend hours of my days processing passport applications and enjoying every minute of the time I spend kibitsing (?) with all… please… come see me in the summer… Read more »
Many years ago the Rebbe was known to receive the most personal mail than any other individual in the US. The Grand Post Master General was intrigued to whom the individual was and came to dollars to meet the Rebbe. (Not to forget to mention Sam Malamud and his stamp empire either).
It wont change as the USPS is nearly out of business anyway
I have had bad exp.. With the postal service in our area packages not being drop off in a proper manner also very rude postal workers in trucks letters mailed not recieved by party mailed to. My own letters being open up.
I do have one nice thing to say the guy who delievers my regular mail is very patient & kind
