The widow of Rabbi Dovid Kreiss, a Toldos Aharon chasid who perished in the Meron tragedy 8 months ago, has given birth to a baby girl, her 10th child.
Rabbi Dovid (35) went to Meron last year together with three of his children. On the way he told his children about the greatness of Rabbi Shimon Bar Yochai and about the tremendous merit of dancing at the lighting during the yahrzeit of Rabbi Shimon.
He added that we should really go on our knees to such a place like the Ohr Hachaim did but at the very least we should kiss the holy ground. Saying this, Rabbi Dovid bent down and kissed the ground reverently.
The children were amazed that their normally shy and sensitive father was acting in this way in public. They were even more amazed when their father told them “We’re going to dance a Kazatzka in honor of Rabbi Shimon.”
When Rabbi Dovid saw the crowds leading towards Rabbi Shimon’s tomb, he placed his children on a high spot and told then not to move, saying that “I’m going into the tomb for a minute and I will come back to you.” A few minutes later he was among the 45 people crushed to death near the tomb.
Hours later when his wife had not received a phone call from him and was searching for him, she received a call from Hatzalah volunteers that “your three children are waiting near the tomb, they don’t want to move as they are waiting for their father to come back, please pick them up.” A few minutes later she received the terrible news that her husband had been among the victims.
