With exactly one month left to go, internationally acclaimed teacher and mentor Rabbi Manis Friedman is battling for a place in the top three Jewish Community Heroes of 2011.
If every person that read this article would vote, Rabbi Friedman of Minnesota would be on top in no time and it will be a very big Kidush Shem Lubavitch to see him win, his staffers said.
The online competition is sponsored by the Jewish Federations of North America. The “Hero” will win $25,000, while the 4 national finalists will each receive $1,000. An additional $5,000 will be given to the Federation’s pick.
“I would bet money that if there would be a vote today on which Lubavitcher affected the most of his fellow Lubavitchers personally, he would win in a heartbeat,” said his son Zalman Friedman.
He said everyone who knows Rabbi Manis will agree that he is a walking Kiddush Hashem to the unaffiliated as well as Frum crowd.
Just to illustrate the scope of his outreach, his people point out how just since the contest started Rabbi Friedman has done some 50,000 miles traveling across the globe to spread his message of Torah and Chassidus.

Thank you to everyone for voting!
Please dont forget to vote every 24 hours:)
Thanks to collive and all her readers Rabbi Friedman has jumped to 2nd Place!!!
RMF is a mensch of epic proportions. The votes simply do not reflect the number of people affected by him in the last 40 years!
My brother went to the Friedman’s yeshiva in Minnesota and we met you by pesach, and we’re family friends and you are an awesome, amazing, inspiring person. Everyone please vote for him!!!
Why aren’t the votes shooting up? I asked all my kids as a hakoras hatov to vote.
He helped my teenage kids when they were falling off the edge….. baruch hashem was successful. I voted!
#1 precisely correct. I would be hesitant to admit too. but I voted!
anyone who has ever met rabbi friedman knows he can not possibly be “fighting” for position in this contest. perhaps his supporters are, but not him! it may be a small detail, but one one RMFs greatest virtues is his total avoidance of any kind of promotion of self. its disrespectful to suggest otherwise.
after all these years of helping people, isnt it surprising that Rabbi Friedman doesnt have thousands more votes??
whats cool is that you can vote EVERYDAY!!!
please do!!
how, exactly, is the voting done?
The fact that someone got him to make a promotional video is incredible. It has always been IMPOSSIBLE to get him to promote himself. Good job Zalman I guess?
He is my hero!
he is almost in third place!!
This will be a kiddush Hashem for Lubavitch. Period.
And if my experience with him is any indicator, many people will be reluctant to admit that he helped them, because it’s often such a personal issue. But I know and others who he’s helped know too. Now help him!
