What’s Wrong with being Right?

When Robert A. Rockaway, a recognized authority on Jewish-American history, decided to chronicle the story of the Jewish mob, he sought out Jewish old-timers in order to gather information on this less than reputable element. Full Story

Your comment seems contradictory. On one hand you write: “The bottom line is that moral relativism like everything else has its good and bad sides . . .”
then you write: “The only good something like this article can do (and this one did it well) is to inform the uninformed, to make the blind see, and the mind numb think.”
Do you agree with the essay that moral relativism is toxic . . or do you maintain that moral relativism has “Good and bad sides,” a notion clearly rejected by the essay?

The bottom line is. That moral relativism like everything else has its good and bad sides. The real problem with every system that you will ever invent is people. you raise some very interesting points which do appear to be correct. realize however that nazism and communism were completely morally relavistic ideaologies and look at the devestation they wrought.also the religious vacume in western europe is being filled by radical islam.this is being allowed in part because western europes intense pro-moral reltivism policies.

While I agree with most of the points you make, nevertheless, one can easily discern from Europe’s war-crazed history of violence and bloodshed that moral relativity in Europe to a large degree has been a stabilizing and perhaps positive influence. Since World War Two Europe has relatively been at peace between itself and with foreign states. Furthermore, one no longer hears about pogroms, stake-burnings, book-burnings and blood libels which were common incidents when European “absolute values” reigned supreme. True, in Europe, the pendulum has swung away from religion. However, in her case, it’s not so terrible – worse, historically, has… Read more »
