A Hakhel rally for children has been taking place once a week in the Remsen Village area of Crown Heights.
The weekly events were started as an impromptu gathering to say Tehillim and Pesukim in the merit of Shlucha Henya Federman obm when she was fighting for her life in December.
That first gathering attracted over 75 children, and organizers Rabbi Levi Gajer and Rabbi Yossi Kagen, seeing the great success, decided to continue the event weekly.
Taking place on Thursday nights, the event brings parents and children together, uniting for the Hakhel year which the Rebbe encouraged.
“The children look forward to the rallies with pizza and treats and the mothers enjoy a chance to socialize with other neighborhood moms,” says one of the organizers.
Each week the rallies see great turnouts, sometimes even with crowds up to 120 children, he says.
“We hope this doesn’t remain only here, we hope every Shul and every community will do the same,” he says. “It will definitely bring the Rebbe a lot of nachas,” he said.
“We look forward to having the next Hakhel gathering in Yerushalayim with Moshiach,” he concluded.
