In accordance with the directives of the Rebbe, Lubavitch Youth Organization continued their tradition of conducting Siyumim during the “Nine Days.”
Starting Rosh Chodesh Av, a short siyum (a completion of a course of Torah study of the Mishna or Talmud) was aired each day on two popular radio stations in the New York vicinity – WCBS and 1010 WINS.
Rabbi Shmuel Butman, Executive Director of Lubavitch Youth Organization and host of “Shabbos Night Live” on COLlive.com, conducted the siyum each day.
“At the conclusion of the Talmud it says ‘G-d did not find a more appropriate vessel for blessing than peace as it says ‘G-d gives his people strength G-d blesses His People with peace,” he said during on of the siyumim.
“This message is as fresh and relevant today as ever. Peace, real peace, is the key to G-d’s blessings including the blessing for the ultimate Redemption as the prophet Isaiah says, ‘Zion will be redeemed with justice and her returnees with charity’.”
Throughout the Siyum one can hear the singing of the ‘Shyiboneh Beis Hamikdosh’ niggun recorded with all the Chassidic fervor at one of the Rebbe’s Farbrengens.
An excited young man related the following story to the offices of Lubavitch Youth.
“I was driving in my car listening to WCBS radio when suddenly I hear a Farbrengen with the Rebbe! I was instantaneously transformed to a different world. An experience I will always remember,” he said.
Upon the request of the Rebbe that the Siyumim, if possible, should continue until 15th of Av (Chamisho Osor B’av) they will continue until then.
