Two frum Jewish women allege that they were the target of severe antisemitic treatment by Virgin Atlantic airlines. They have filed a complaint about the June 17 incident at JFK airport, saying they were denied permission to fly for no apparent reason, and ridiculed by multiple employees.
The women were planning to travel to Tel Aviv with a layover in London. They had already received their boarding passes and were waiting at the gate when a Virgin Atlantic employee who they said had dark skin and was wearing a cross explained that they were denied permission to fly and that their luggage was removed from the plane.
When the passengers asked for an explanation, the manager allegedly threatened to call the police if they tried to take pictures or videos.
In addition, other Virgin Atlantic employees began mocking them and making blatant antisemitic statements at them. El Al staff reportedly witnessed the incident and were shocked by what they saw.
The women felt their removal from the flight was motivated by antisemitism. They have filed a complaint with Virgin Atlantic.
If there’s any evidence of this then they’re looking at millions of dollars, not just a complaint.
I’m going to go out on a limb here and suggest that there’s much more to the story
“There’s more to the story”, You think?! Like, how were these WOMEN obviously Jewish looking? They weren’t wearing yarmalkes, beards, hats and jackets, tzitzis…Oh, maybe they were speaking yiddish or Hebrew very loudly, which the staff overheard and recognized…But there is something missing from this story!
for sure!! because obviously there’s no anti-Semitism in the world and Jew must be the blame. stop your stupidity and self hating Jewishness!!!
Yep, every time I get stuck at a red light I scream, “Anti-semitism!”.(and it is a “fact” that there are more red lights in Jewish neighbourhoods – just count them!) If you don’t agree that “they” are anti-semites, then YOU must ” stop your stupidity and self-hating Jewishness!!!”
They were dressed like jews, ie tzniusdik!
I’ve had similar experiences lately. And there’s no way to prove that it’s because of anti-semitism. You can feel it in the way you are treated, in the way they look at you, and you know that anti-semitism has exploded lately and many people that have harbored feelings deep in their heart suddenly feel emboldened to act on those feelings. But there’s just no way to prove it. Suddenly you understand when black people would say “why, because I’m black?” Because sometimes, it is. It’s frustrating to have negative interactions and no way of knowing, much less proving, that they… Read more »
What is your point?
Is that there doesn’t seem to be any clear cut anti-Semitism, but the people involved felt there was. And they were very possibly right, but you just can’t prove it, and that’s maddening. I’m just saying that other people have lived this experience. I do believe that the race card is definitely overplayed by many.
I was driving and a young dark hispanic driver (Caribbean type) hit into me while he was distracted. He admitted immediately that he was at fault, and once he noticed that I was secretly recording it, he said he’ll pay me x amount of dollars privately to avoid insurance. He then said he can’t pay immediately so if I allow him to pay over time, he’ll tag on 12% extra. I declined the extra money and said that it’s okay if he pays in several installments. He sent three zelles and then stopped paying any more. I asked what’s going… Read more »
Why would you agree to this? Of course he’s going to stop paying you. I’m surprised he even sent you the zelles.
If he has his info and evidence to follow up..
Boycott Virgin Atlantic!!!
Let’s see proof. There’s no way you’ll get a payoff without it anyway. They should’ve called the bluff and recorded. If they get kicked off and record it, its still recorded
STORY MAKES NO SENSE. THE CEO OF VIRGIN ATLANTIC IS A JEW & ISRAELI!!!
So therefore none of their employees can be antisemitic? THAT makes no sense.
The story still makes sense
Things have gotten worse than ever. My son was hospitalized at a top Manhattan hospital. The rude treatment from hospital staff was open and obvious.
This is the new reality.
And we need to be extra careful to make a kiddush Hashem and not ch”v the opposite
The only way this story will have credibility to an impartial judge is if there are impartial witnesses. So hopefully, the mentioned Elal employees exist and will provide statements.
Simple as that.
Oy!
weather this incident was motivated by antisemitism or not the way these people were treated by the staff was appalling to say the least. unless a passenger is behaving in a menacing or violent manner towards other passengers or staff to just throw someone off the plan for being triggered by something they said is an ugly display of abuse of power and these disgusting lowlifes should be fired immediately and sued as well! . This makes my blood boil to keep hearing about people being horribly treated by a highly unprofessional employee on the plan for some petty insignificant… Read more »
