The broad community of visual artists will convene for a Hakhel gathering today, Sunday. Geared towards visually creative folks and enthusiasts the event is titled “Manifest Your Soulprint.”
“Hakhel is about inspiration to serve our Higher purpose and I think that will be abundantly present,” said artist Michoel Muchnik who is hosting the Hakhel. Building on a small and intimate Hakhel he hosted in his home Muchnik set out to broaden this year’s event to the larger audience of visual artists and creative people.
Discovering the purpose of art will be addressed by Rabbi Mendel Kaplan of Chabad Flamingo. As a teacher and lover of Torah, as well as being a portrait artist, he will seek to uncover the mystical spirit and divine purpose of creativity. “I think there is so much meaning and magic in Jewish art, and it’s not so well known,” said Kaplan who is flying in from Toronto for the event.
Sometimes as artists things get stuck or difficult. Addressing that from her own personal experience, renowned lecturer Shimona Tzukernik will provide a behind the scenes look at the creative process. “Navigating the creativity rollercoaster and the inevitable challenges it brings is a game changer and I hope to share that.”
Pulling it all together will be Chassidic Artist Michoel Muchnik who will speak on the topic of “from vision to framing.” In his typical humor, Muchnik will share how he took Judaism and Chassidus and began a career revolving around those themes.
The event will be moderated by Yocheved Sidof of Lamplighters Yeshivah who brings a keen understanding of creativity in education and art therapy.
It was so inspiring to watch.
