This past Chanukah the bochurim Shluchim in of Chabad North Shore in Sydney, Australia, Lavi Klein, Shmulik Fogelman, Mayer Goldman and Ari Kapeluschnik arranged 8 different community events.
On the first night of Chanukah they organized a “first” for the north shore of Sydney, a combined communal event with all local Shuls participating.
The event was attended by over 1,000 people and included rides, food, carnival games, a kids program, and the lighting of a 12 foot menorah by Rabbi Nochum Schapiro from Chabad North Shore.
On Friday night a program was held at the Chabad House, where everyone enjoyed latkes, doughnuts, Chanukah Gelt, and activities.
On Sunday the bochurim dressed up in Chanukah costumes, went to one of the local public schools and helped 30 kids make their own Menorah.
On Tuesday a Menorah lighting was arranged in council chambers and included many Rabbis and local dignitaries from the area.
Throughout Chanukah there were Menorah lightings in 4 different malls, with entertainment, latkes and doughnuts for the crowds.
