CARES, a well-known social services organization in the Jewish community, is excited to announce the launch of a hiring initiative for its Family Peer Support Services (FPSS) program.
FPSS provides an array of formal and informal services to families raising children who are experiencing social, emotional, developmental and/or behavioral challenges. It empowers families to make informed decisions and acts as a bridge, promoting effective communication and creating better connections between caregivers, service providers and available community resources.
This groundbreaking program is rooted in a simple yet powerful idea: your life experience can transform the lives of others.
We’re looking for individuals who’ve walked this path—parents, siblings, caretakers, and close family members of those with mental health needs, behavioral challenges and/or developmental disabilities.
If you fall into the above categories, then you are eligible to be trained and paid as a CARES Family Peer Advocate (FPA), where you can bring real understanding to families navigating similar journeys. You will provide emotional support for a family on their journey to reduce isolation, feelings of stigma, blame and hopelessness. If you’ve experienced the trials and triumphs of supporting a loved one with special needs, you can share that valuable knowledge with others and get paid for doing so.
