Heavy snow has fallen across large parts of the UK, disrupting travel and closing thousands of schools. South-east England has the worst snow it has seen for 18 years, some parts over a foot, causing all London buses to be pulled from service and the closure of airports. Shluchim’s children living at a distance from their school had a day off.
Thousands of school children across England and Wales woke up to the news that their school was closed for the day.
London came to a near standstill on Monday with all buses canceled and overground and underground train services severely disrupted.
David Frost, director-general of the British Chambers of Commerce, said the disruption had cost British business “a lot of money.”
About one in five workers took the day off and thousands of schools in the south of England closed. Many stayed closed on Tuesday.
Questions were being asked Tuesday about how snow in Britain caused so much disruption to travel and education as analysts said the cost to the economy could be as much as £3.5 billion – $5 billion.

Relax!! So you’ll go tomorrow! My sister’s in London. She said it was 10″ & she had 2 snow days, unheard of over there. Too bad your flight was canceled. Poor thing. Oh, in case you didn’t realize it, we had only 2″ & the airports had major delays & cancellations over here too. How inconsiderate.
