Tzfas Yeshivas Kayitz Concludes ‘Summer of a Lifetime’

Amid the ongoing war in Eretz Yisrael, Yeshivas Kayitz Tzeirei Hashluchim (YKTH) recently concluded its six-week summer program in Tzfas. Despite the surrounding turmoil, Yeshivas Kayitz served as a peaceful haven, offering the bochurim a unique blend of camaraderie, fun, and transformative experiences, rejuvenating them for the upcoming Yeshiva year.

Under the guidance of Rabbis Chaim and Zalman Kaplan, and directed by Eli Rosenfeld, 110 bochurim gathered in Tzfas for what they described as the “summer of a lifetime.” The program was an ideal mix of learning, Chassidishkeit, sports, and exciting trips, leaving a lasting impression on each participant.

What sets YKTH apart is its innovative approach to learning. Alongside traditional studies of Chassidus and Gemara, the bochurim engaged in a unique curriculum called “Aliba D’Hilchasa,” developed by JLI exclusively for YKTH. Each week began with a video presenting a contemporary case study or story, which the bochurim would analyze through the lens of Gemara and Halacha. This approach provided students with a fresh perspective on the relevance of Gemara in modern times.

The program also offered other engaging curricula. “L’Orca U’Lirochba” explored the history and significance of various cities across Eretz Yisrael, which the students later visited. “Electives” allowed each bochur to choose from a variety of interesting courses, while the Seder Erev featured rotating speakers and events, ensuring that the learning remained exciting and dynamic.

One of the most thrilling initiatives at YKTH was “Mivtza Duvdevan.” Participants were encouraged to take on new personal hachlatos in darchei haChassidus. Those who excelled were rewarded with exclusive events, limited-edition merchandise, and various other prizes.

An especially meaningful part of the program was the “Maamar for Shmuel” Mivtza, created in memory of Shmuel A”H ben R’ Osher Karnowsky, a former YKTH student. Over 60 bochurim memorized a Maamar of the Rebbe each Shabbos and were treated to an exhilarating horseback ride through the forests near Tzfas. Another successful program was “Mitzvah Torah,” where many bochurim learned two additional Prokim of Gemara during their breaks, earning a paragliding adventure off the cliffs of Netanya as a reward.

Learning wasn’t confined to the classroom. YKTH took the bochurim on adventures across Eretz Yisrael, from the ancient streets of Yerushalayim’s Old City to the shores of Eilat, the cliffs of Har Arbel, and Tzfas itself. These trips offered a perfect blend of education, spiritual growth, and excitement. Whether walking through Chizkiyahu’s water tunnels or off-roading in jeeps by the Kineret, the bochurim created unforgettable memories.

This summer, special emphasis was placed on showing solidarity with the victims of the Simchas Torah massacre and supporting the soldiers fighting to protect Eretz Yisrael. The bochurim visited Sderot, Reim, and other impacted sites, and hosted barbecues with soldiers at their bases.

The summer culminated in a grand four-day trip, which included spending Shabbos in the holy city of Chevron and a day exploring the beautiful coastal city of Eilat. Walking in the footsteps of the Avos in Chevron and scuba diving in the Red Sea were highlights that left a lasting impact on each bochur.

The success of YKTH was largely due to its dedicated staff, led by Sholem Lebovics, Eli Sputz, and Yosef Segal, who ensured that each participant had an extraordinary experience. As the bochurim returned to their respective Yeshivas, they did so inspired and energized, carrying with them the lasting impact of a summer filled with meaningful learning, spiritual growth, and thrilling adventures.
