Mrs. Sara Kaplan, who was sent by the Rebbe on Shlichus with her husband to build the Chabad community in Tzfas, has suffered a stroke Monday morning.
Her full name to have in mind while davening and saying Tehillim, kapitel 60, is Sara Hinda bas Chaya.
Mrs. Kaplan, daughter of Antwerp Chief Rabbi David Moshe Lieberman, helped her late husband Rabbi Leibel Kaplan in founding the Shikun Chabad neighborhood in Tzfas.
The community, led by Rabbi Kaplan, went on to open shuls, mikvas, boys and girls schools, a network of kindergartens, Yeshiva, seminaries, Chabad Houses and Gmachs.
At a keynote address at the 22nd International Kinus Hashluchos in New York in 2010, Mrs. Kaplan recalled the challenges she and her husband faced in the early years of their Shlichus, from sleeping in the kitchen during the cold winters, to not being able to call or visit her family for years.
Though with all the hardships, she said, “We are the beneficiaries to great blessings,” and spoke of how the Rebbe inspires us to be lamplighters, to light the souls hidden within those around us.
Mrs. Kaplan has 9 children and many grandchildren. She has been a teacher in Machon Alta, Seminary Chaya Mushka (Rosenfelds), and Bais Chana (Chitrik) for many years.
A group of her students have requested that her former students and women across the world take upon themselves to bake challah for Shavuos for a segulah for her speedy recovery. In addition, as she is well known to be a true example of ahavas yisroel, they are asking for good resolutions in that area as well.

When Rebbetzin Sara Kaplan came to Ottawa last summer, she spoke and helped so many. During the year, when people needed advice, they asked for her telephone number because they were so impressed with her and knew she would be the person to turn to for help. May G-d send her a speedy recovery.
