Detectives of the New York Police Department have made two arrests in the series of hold-ups and break-ins that occurred recently in Crown Heights.
The Jewish victims said they were approached by the two suspects who demanded money.
The suspects arrested have been positively identified in a line up by three victims, COLlive.com was told.
District Attorney Charles Hynes’ office has indicated that they are treating the case extremely seriously and will be pushing for high bails to keep the suspects in jail before the trial.
Sources said they will aim to get convictions on serious felony charges that will ensure that the alleged criminals will not return to terrorize any more innocent community residents.
One suspect is a 17 year-old, but will be tried as an adult because of the seriousness of the charge. The other is of age 20.
The Brooklyn DA has indicated that the pattern of exclusively Jewish victims warrants bias charges in addition to the other charges in this case.
Crown Heights Jewish Community Council issued a statement thanking Deputy Inspector Peter Simonetti and his 71 Precinct squad, as well as the Commissioner’s Bias squad led by Inspector Mike Osgood for “their great investigative work in making these arrests.”
What is rectivism??
Gonna try to be optimistic here…
I hope they do really treat this seriously and keep far away from our streets for a long long time…
Don’t worry…the safety of our streets is being effected by the authorities…the criminals will probably be out of jail in a year or two…The recitivism rate in NY is 60%.
The 71st precinct definitely can get the job done.
However, it seems that increased scrutinity and publicity seems to be a factor in having that happen.
So lets keep shouting out about incidents and ensure that they make the news or nobody will pay attention, including the 71st.
In the meantime, thanks guys for a job well done.
Yes its proper to thank the NYPD when they do a good job but lets not start over doing it because with out getting political it will just bring us back to the Vaga situation where we honored him non stop for know reason
Wow never new they Would Do this
the hebrew word for praise “IDUD” = OYD OYD

thank you to the 71st – I always said you guys are the best
i would think no bail would be better.
Thank you Police of 71st precinct and to the DA’s office for dealing with this in a wise manner.
What does that look like an angry Obama?
Thank You captain for the great work.Let’s plan a head so that no future criminals think of doing such crimes again.
